The University of Florida Health Care Risk Management & Patient Safety Graduate Certificate Program is designed for individuals who have an undergraduate degree in Health Care Administration or a related field and are seeking to specialize in the area of Health Care Risk Management and Patient Safety. The program is designed for working professionals and consists of three on-line courses that are entirely self-paced. The courses are facilitated by an instructor who is a Florida Licensed Health Care Risk Manager.
The program is designed to provide a strong foundation in the following topic areas:
- Healthcare standards and regulations impacting healthcare providers
- Elements of negligence, liability and malpractice
- Methods for identifying risk exposure in healthcare settings
- Risk control techniques to reduce errors and increase patient safety
- Systems linking risk management, quality improvement and compliance
- Required Courses:
- PHA 5270: Health Care and Patient Safety
- PHA 5271: Health Care Risk Management
- PHA 5272: Risk Management and Liability
Upon completion of the three required courses listed above students will receive a Graduate Certificate and a transcript which can be used to document eligibility for those seeking to become Certified Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety Professionals (CHRMPSP) through the International Commission on Health Care Certification.
